About Me…
Hi, I’m Amanda Marrs, the counselor behind Vision Forward Counseling. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Oregon University, and I am licensed in Washington State as a Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). I practice under the supervision of Emily Richman, LMHC, and I’m committed to providing thoughtful, ethical care that is grounded in both compassion and clinical skill.
For the past 20 years—and still today—I’ve worked in education, much of that time supporting students who are visually impaired. Through that work, I saw how often people navigating vision loss, eye disease, and major health or lifestyle adjustments are asked to “just cope” without enough emotional support. That experience shaped the heart of my practice: creating a space where clients can process what’s changing, grieve what’s been lost, and build resilience and confidence for what comes next.
My approach is person-centered and existential-humanist, meaning our work is collaborative, respectful, and grounded in what matters most to you—your values, your story, and your goals. I’m also trauma-informed and culturally responsive, and I can integrate practical tools when you want strategies you can use right away. I offer sessions in person and via telehealth.
